A Day at Ekurhuleni Center: A Poetic Encounter with Love
Yesterday, I had the privilege of visiting the Ekurhuleni Center for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Acornhoek. This remarkable place, dedicated to providing care and support to children in need, is a beacon of hope and resilience. Among the many inspiring moments of the day, one stands out as a testament to the power of creativity and expression: meeting a young poet who shared his heartfelt poem about love.
In the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the center, surrounded by laughter and chatter, this young man took the stage. With a confident yet humble demeanor, he began to recite a poem that was both moving and profound. His words, carefully chosen and passionately delivered, resonated deeply with everyone present.
Here is his poem, a beautiful reflection on love:

Love
Love is a mystery
A mistery that no ditective, inspector or any other private investigator nor Sherlock Holmes can ever solve.
No amount of pills, research, hypothesis or any medication can make a doctor or a scientist to understand the mistery of love.
For love is deeper than the ocean, more sharper than the greem repars blade.
Love always betrays us,just like when snow White took a bite on the poisoned apple because of love.
Sometimes people think that love is the source of happiness.
What is love though?
Where does it come from?
For love comes deep inside from our hearts.
We actually don’t understand it but yet we try each and everyday to understand it’s concepts.
They say love is an instance feeling of a deep affection, but I say love is an interest and a pleasure in something.
Yes I tried to love
But the goddess of love couldn’t let me,
Ohh dear goddess what have I done you wrong?
Why is that your hate for me so strong.
You see,I know how it feels to be looking for love.
I saw king Arthur betraying sir Merlin because of love, love
Love of a sword, Excalibur.
Yes love is painful, but unconditional love is becoming the most indangered love species, and if we don’t protect it,it will lead to extinction.
Rose’s are dead,
Violet’s are dying,
Outside I’m smiling
But inside I’m crying.
But for as long as I live i pledge allegiance to love.
Because love is worth it, love conquers all.

Listening to him recite his poem was a powerful reminder of the transformative power of love and the importance of giving voice to our emotions. His words not only captured the essence of love but also highlighted the resilience and creativity of the young minds nurtured at the Ekurhuleni Center.
This experience reaffirmed my belief in the potential of every child to make a difference, to inspire, and to touch the hearts of many. The Ekurhuleni Center is not just a place of care, but a cradle of dreams and aspirations, where every child is encouraged to find and express their unique voice.
As I left the center, I carried with me the young poet’s words, a beautiful reminder of love’s enduring power. It is my hope that by sharing his poem with the world, others too will feel the warmth and inspiration that I felt on that unforgettable day.
